Beginners Glazing Workshop

Always wanted to try your hand at glazing but were a bit confused as to where to start? This workshop is perfect for beginners who are starting out their ceramics journey.

In this 5+1 hour session, you can learn the basics in

-       Glaze composition

-       Mixing and creating your own glaze

-       Glaze application

-       Glaze trouble shooting and common problems

-       Glazing and kilns

The session is kept small and relaxed so that you can have the best opportunity to learn at your own pace and have ample time to ask questions and explore along the way.

All materials and tools are provided, we just recommend you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, a dust mask if you have one, an apron, closed toe shoes and on old towel.  All firing is competed after the session and you’ll receive an email when it is complete and ready for collection, at which point, we can organise a second date for a 1 hour debrief to discuss glaze outcomes and kilns. This will also be held at the studio in Thornbury.

Where and when: Meet at the Studio at 3/77 Collins Street Thornbury, then we head over the road to the venue. Class starts at 10am and goes until 3pm. Don’t forget to bring your lunch and I’ll make us a cuppa.

These classes are by appointment only, so dates are flexible and are organised between us all. It’s a good idea to get a few friends together that are interested in doing the workshop as classes will only run for 2 or more participants.

Cancellations: Please double and triple check your dates as refunds cannot be given. If you cannot make it to the workshop please notify me 14 days before the workshop for a credit note. That way I have enough time to open up the spot for another person. Names on tickets can be transferred up to 3 days before the event. Please contact us on for assistance.

All care is taken with your work, but I cannot guarantee the outcome. While I endeavour to give you every opportunity to guide you to make your work, ceramics goes through many processes, many of which are out of my control. Buying a ticket to the workshops means that you understand these terms.
